As I've sauntered around the world of dating advice and - even more terrifying - the many dating experiences women have described to me, I've realized women keep falling into certain traps without realizing it. And it's so understandable, because it's based on the bulk of terrible advice that's out there!

But the most horrifically confidence-stealing, identity-warping lie of all is this:

That to 'get' a man, you have to do a certain list (which varies, based on who you're talking to) of things 'for men' in order to attract them. 

The part of us that longs for partnership lunges at the idea of the safety and promised results of a 'recipe.'

The part of us designed for more feels slightly like we are selling ourselves off as 'assets' to cold-hearted bidders in a world still rife with misogynists.

So we act like these erratic beings that swing back and forth between being desperate to be wanted, no matter what it takes, and too triggered to open our hearts.

Yeeeeesssss, girl, I see you. No, you're not crazy, or a failure. And it's going to be ok.
